General

How does the WAVE Plus work?
The WAVE Plus is a wireless Critical Incident Notification system. As soon as an alarm is triggered, a detailed message is transmitted over the two-way radios carried by the law enforcement officers who will be responding to the incident. There is no faster or more urgent way to contact law enforcement in an emergency. Alarms can also be sent by email, text message or telephone. Strobes and sirens can also be added to the system. The WAVE Plus can be integrated with other security systems for a comprehensive security solution. For example, it can play messages over your PA system, put your access control system into lockdown or pull up cameras on your CCTV system.
What is the range of the wireless buttons?
The range of the wireless depends on the facility. The range can be extended using repeaters.
Is the system completely wireless?
The control panel and repeaters need to be plugged into standard electrical outlets. Otherwise, the system is wireless.
Will the WAVE Plus repeat the alarm message?
Yes, the system can be configured to repeat the message as many times as needed with a set delay between the repeats.
How do you record messages on the WAVE Plus system?
You can record messages directly on the control panel or upload WAV files to the system.
Can the system be remotely programmed and diagnosed?
Yes, the system has a web interface which allows for remote viewing, configuration and diagnosis.
What types of sensors work with the WAVE Plus system?
A wide variety of wireless sensors are available. Hard wired sensors can also be integrated with the system. Specialty sensors are available upon request.
Does the system support virtual buttons?
Yes, up to four virtual buttons can be added to any computer within the local area network (LAN) of the WAVE Plus system. The virtual buttons can be configured as icons on the desktop or task bar. Alternatively, function keys can be assigned to trigger the virtual buttons.
Does the WAVE Plus have a UL ( Underwriters Laboratories ) certification?
Yes, the WAVE Plus conforms to ANSI/UL 60950-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60950-1.
How long do the batteries in the wireless sensors last?
We recommend that all batteries be changed every two years.
How will we know when the batteries need to be replaced?
All of the wireless sensors that are used with the WAVE Plus system are fully supervised and notify the system when they have a low battery. If any buttons or other sensors have a low battery, a supervisory alarm will be triggered.
How will we know if buttons are missing from the system?
All of the wireless sensors that are used with the WAVE Plus system are fully supervised. If any buttons or other sensors are not within range of the system, the system will note that they are not checking in as expected and a supervisory alarm will be triggered.
Is there a backup battery in the system?
Yes, the WAVE Plus control panel and repeaters include back-up batteries that will last for around one day depending on usage.
Can we get an extended warranty for the system?
Yes, the warranty can be extended at the end of the initial two-years, provided that our technician comes out to test the system at that time.
What is the WAVE Plus system’s capacity?
The WAVE Plus has the capacity to handle up to 10,000 unique messages.
Does the WAVE Plus come in any other colors?
No, the WAVE Plus is just available in black and silver at this time. Minimalist, but slick.

Radio

Will the WAVE Plus work with my radio network?
Yes, the WAVE Plus can be integrated with analog, digital and encrypted radio networks.
What if I don’t have a radio?
Alarms can be sent by email, text message, telephone or to other security systems.
Can the WAVE Plus transmit over more than one radio frequency?
Yes, the system can transmit alarms over up to four different frequencies.
Can different alarm messages be transmitted over different radio frequencies?
Yes, each alarm can be configured to be transmitted over one or more of the radio frequencies for which the system is configured.
What happens if we are speaking over the radio when an alarm is triggered?
The system has a courtesy hold-off and will wait for the channel to be free before transmitting.
What happens if lots of buttons are pressed at the same time, will it tie up my radio network every time an alarm is triggered?
The system has a customizable radio flooding suppression feature which can suppress radio transmissions in the event lots of buttons are pressed around the same time. This helps to keep the radio channel clear during an incident. For example, if the system has broadcast more than 30 seconds of alarm messages in the last minute, it will stop transmitting alarm messages for ten minutes to give officers a chance to respond to the incident.

Special Features

Can the WAVE Plus cover buildings that are far apart from each other?
The wireless network used by the WAVE Plus system can generally cover buildings that are adjacent to each other or on the same campus. Buildings that are farther away from the main control panel can be added to the system if they are on the same local area network (LAN) as the WAVE Plus using a remote receiver. The remote receiver extends the range of the wireless network to any building that is within the LAN. Multiple remote receivers can be added to each WAVE Plus system so that many buildings can be covered by one control panel.
Can the WAVE Plus be integrated with my other security/building automation/hard wired systems?
Yes, the WAVE Plus has an open architecture and can be integrated with most other types of security and building automation systems.
Can I have different information transmitted over the radio and the email/text or PA system?
Yes, different messages can be transmitted over different output devices.
Can the alarm messages that are transmitted when an alarm is triggered differ depending on the time of day?

Yes, each sensor can be scheduled so that different messages are transmitted depending on the time of day. For example, a door contact can be scheduled to just notify the office that a door has been accessed during the day, but can be set to notify security that there has been unauthorized access at night.

Can alarms be scheduled so that they will not trigger depending on the time of day?
Yes, each sensor can be scheduled to be active during a set time of day. For example, motion sensors can be scheduled so that they are only active after hours when all personnel have left for the day.
Can a more powerful radio (e.g., a 40-watt car radio) be used with the WAVE Plus system to reach our radio tower?
Yes, the WAVE Plus can be integrated with more powerful radios.

Email/Text Messages

How many emails and text messages can the WAVE Plus system send?
The WAVE Plus sends emails and text message through your mail server. It is best to set up a distribution group for large numbers of email contacts for ease of management. Please note that the WAVE Plus is not a mass notification system. Rather, the WAVE Plus notifies first responders and other affected personnel of an emergency so that they can take appropriate action and determine if a mass notification system should be triggered.
Can the WAVE Plus provide a location for buttons that are being carried around a facility or campus?
Yes, There is a location module available for the WAVE Plus system which can provide location within a facility or across a campus.
